Lantern of the Laughless Saint Playtest
Before Early Access launched on August 17, 2026, The Lantern of the Laughless Saint ran a closed Discord playtest. There is no Steam Playtest or Demo page. The often-quoted 600-player figure is 待确认.

Playtest Overview
The lantern of the laughless saint playtest happened before Early Access, not after it. Steam has no Playtest tab and no Demo build. The test lived on NerveLabs Discord and in creator videos.
The useful window is roughly March 2026 through July 2026. Developer account u/NuclearSnake posted playtest calls in March. youngShiva streamed a playtest on June 24. Al ChestBreach covered a closed build on July 1. IsaPlayingGames posted a three-player co-op playtest on July 26.
Early Access then launched on August 17, 2026. The playtest material is pre-release. Do not treat those builds as the current store version.
How Players Joined
Players did not opt in through Steam. Creators described Discord codes and a playtesting channel inside the NerveLabs server.
Al ChestBreach called the build a closed beta or alpha and said codes came from Discord. IsaPlayingGames described a multiplayer play test with three people. youngShiva’s June stream is labeled playtesting.
The exact invite link used in those videos was not preserved in the research cache. The current official Discord on this site is a studio channel, not proof that a new test is open.
A figure of 600 playtesters appears in a later developer reply on r/IndieDev. That number is developer self-report. Mark it 待确认.
One Steam review quoted in search results claimed more than 200 hours in the playtest. That is a community claim, not a studio changelog.
What Was Tested
The March Reddit call said the playtest covered single-player and co-op. The same post said skills level like Morrowind and that players could jump across the map.
IsaPlayingGames’ July video is specifically a three-player co-op session. That is the strongest gameplay evidence that multiplayer was already in the test builds.
Al ChestBreach’s July 1 video treated the build as unfinished. The wording clash is small: official and Reddit posts said playtest, some creators said closed beta or alpha. The shared fact is a gated pre-release build.
Steam News after launch shows the same feedback loop continuing. HOTFIX notes mention multiplayer saving, quest fixes, and a request to keep reporting issues. That does not prove every playtest bug was closed.
Player Feedback
Public feedback from the test period is scattered across Reddit and YouTube, not a published design diary.
The developer posts in r/oblivion and r/Morrowind were recruitment posts, not postmortems. Creator videos show real-time confusion about menus and multiplayer as much as they show features.
After launch, some buyers said they had already spent a long time in the playtest. That supports a long closed period. It does not give a clean tester count, a start date, or a last-code date.
If NerveLabs opens another test, the historical path was Discord, not Steam’s Playtest system. Whether that happens again is 待确认.
For the live game, use the release date page and the Steam page. For the people who were already talking during the test, see the Reddit page.
FAQ
Can I still join the playtest?
Not through Steam. There is no Playtest or Demo listing. The 2026 Discord test is over. A future test is 待确认.
Was it a Steam Playtest?
No. Official store data has no Playtest category. Access was described as Discord codes.
Did it include co-op?
Yes, according to the developer’s March Reddit call and a July three-player video. How stable that build was is a separate question.
How many people played the test?
待确认. The 600-player figure is a developer statement from a later Reddit thread, not a Steam report.
